Murchison Playcentre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Session Facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant Playcentre Community for two sessions per week. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child led play and positive guidance. You will be a hands-on team member who encourages others to thrive; you will model Playcentre philosophy and good practice while supporting whānau to gain confidence to have a go themselves.

Days & hours:

Wednesdays and Thursdays 9.00am – 1.00pm. This is a permanent position, during school term time only.

We will begin interviewing suitable candidates as they apply and may appoint to this position before the application period has closed.

The candidate must have:

  • The Playcentre C3 qualification or the New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care L4 or a higher ECE qualification or a Primary Teaching qualification with the Playcentre Primary Teacher Bridging Award, for licencing purposes.
  • A current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy;
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whariki and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
  • Great time management and with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience at centre level communicating with both tamariki and adults;
  • An ability to support and empower parents, whanau, and caregivers in their role as Kaiako.
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;
  • Confidence when speaking within a group.
  • A passion for supporting Te Reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our session.
