Playcentres welcome children from age 0-6, and infants are welcome to attend most Playcentre sessions and participate in the regular activities. However, we also offer more specialised sessions where there is a real focus on the needs of newborns to 1 year olds, as well as the support and friendship of other new parents. Babies Can Play sessions based in Canterbury, offer a relaxed, respectful and nurturing environment for you and your baby. We provide a safe and interesting space for your baby to freely explore and learn through sensory play, stories and music, alongside you.
Thanks to brain research we now know the first three years are huge in children brain development. Babies Can Play offers time to delight in your child’s discoveries.
Life is busy. Babies Can Play offers a chance for you to slow down and watch your baby play and interact with other babies. Parents who have attended Babies Can Play tell us they pace a high value on this time with their baby, away from the demands of everyday life.
It takes a village to raise children. You will meet other parents and have the opportunity to build lifetime friendships for you and your baby. Our sessions provide discussion times to share and explore parenting ideas. None of us know it all, but together we can work it out.
Opportunities for infants to learn through sensory play, music and stories, with the support of their whānau and parents as first educators to ensure they become capable and confident learners.
Share your journey into parenthood, supporting and learning from other whānau and parents alongside our experienced facilitators. This allow you to gain confidence in parenting and build up a strong social network.
Within a safe and friendly environment, babies, whānau and parents are provided with interesting equipment, music and stories. Your involvement as a parent will make your child’s learning experience much richer.
