Onehunga Playcentre provides a complete and high quality early childhood education for all children aged 0-6 years. Children at Onehunga Playcentre thrive in a dynamic mixed-age environment that nurtures curiosity, confidence and creativity, all the while enjoying high adult ratios on session.

We believe our children are capable and competent learners. We believe that children learn best through play and play that is child-led. Our children make their own choices and are supported and encouraged by both adults and other children to actively explore and make sense of their natural, social, physical and material worlds.  

We would love you to come and visit us with your children on one of our sessions, call or email the centre and our enrolments officer will organise a day for you to come along. 

At Playcentre, early childhood education is a shared journey. We value parents as the first and best educators for their tamariki, which is why parents attend alongside their tamariki – to play, learn and grow together.

If you care for tamariki aged 0-6, we invite you to visit and experience our affordable, unique, and child-led environment. Our centres encourage learning through free play and nurture imagination, confidence, and connection.

Our licensed early learning centres follow the Ministry of Education’s world-leading bicultural curriculum, Te Whāriki, offering 16 different areas of play set up to cater for different interests, skills, ages and abilities.

We also provide a free, NZQA-approved, adult education programme for enrolled whānau to add practical strategies and skills to your parenting toolbox.
