We’re seeking a vibrant, motivated, creative, and passionate educator with a sparkling personality to join our well-resourced centre to support our tamariki, parents and whānau in facilitating child led play.  
 
You will role model by working alongside our centre whānau to open the sessions, guide activities while facilitating learning for our members and tamariki through child led play and positive guidance.  
To support whānau in the use of Te Reo Māori, encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre, and demonstrate the benefits of participating to whānau.  
Let your inner author shine writing learning stories highlighting tamariki achievements, developments, learning and wonders while supporting whānau with them exploring their light bulb moments.   
We are all about mentoring and supporting parents/ whānau /members/tamariki as they explore and learn with their children during these very special years.

Mangapapa Playcentre, 351b Ormond Road, Riverdale, Gisborne 4010 

Days & hours:

Permanent; 2 days a week Monday and Friday 9.00am -12.30pm, 7 hours p/w (during term time only) 
 
The ideal candidate will need to have the following: 

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher.   
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.

Desirable skills and experience will include: 

  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults.
  • Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions. 
  • Knowledge of ECE regulations
  • Ability to use technology
