Whangamatā Playcentre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Session Facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant Playcentre Community for two sessions per week. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child led play and positive guidance. You will be a hands-on team member who encourages others to thrive; you will model Playcentre philosophy and good practice while supporting whānau to gain confidence to have a go themselves.

Location:

Whangamatā Playcentre.

Days & hours:

Tuesdays 9.15am – 11.45am with an additional 30 minutes of non-contact time and Wednesdays 9.15am – 1.00pm with an additional 30 minutes of non-contact time, during school term time only. This is a fixed term position, ending 11 April 2025.

We will begin interviewing suitable candidates as they apply and may appoint to this position before the application period has closed.

The candidate must have:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy;
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whariki and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
  • Great time management and with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience at centre level communicating with both tamariki and adults;
  • An ability to support and empower parents, whanau, and caregivers in their role as Kaiako.
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;
  • Confidence when speaking within a group.
  • A passion for supporting Te Reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our session.
